The Goldfields Hotel is a historic, landmark building in the township of Forsayth. In 2014 it was purchased by the Terry family; the owners, operators and your hosts at Cobbold Gorge and Village. Since then, it has undergone a complete renovation and is now the town’s community hub, offering meals, fuel and supplies. Named the Best Outback Pub in Queensland in the Outback Queensland Tourism Awards 2016, 2017 and entered the Hall of Fame in 2018 – the Goldfields Hotel is your one-stop-shop when visiting Forsayth.
Open seven days a week – at the Goldfields Hotels you’re able to top up at the small General Store on your way through, send a postcard from the Postal Agency, check out the world class agate display for fossicking inspiration or stop for a well-deserved break at the Coffee Shop & Cafe. The Goldfields Hotel is also a licensed venue with a Bistro serving home-style country meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner – you decide whether to dine indoors or outdoors in the Beer Garden, simply relax and enjoy!

The half day Savannahlander trip from Forsayth to Einasleigh operates every Thursday, between April and October. It includes a bus ride, train ride and time at Einasleigh. The air conditioned coach departs the Goldfields Hotel at 12.15pm – grab some lunch before you leave (at own cost) – and there’s time to check out the Copperfield Gorge in Einasleigh before boarding the Savannahlander Train for a 2.30pm departure. Ride the rail back over the scenic Newcastle Ranges to Wirra Wirra Siding, where you’ll be met by coach, for the short transfer back to Forsayth, which arrives at approximately 5pm.
