We are always reinvesting and expanding our capabilities to enhance accessibility for those staying at Cobbold Village and touring Cobbold Gorge. Key features to improve access, comfort and safety include the following.
STAY. Our Ringers Rest accessible accommodation has been purpose-built for comfort and accessibility, featuring a ramped verandah, large wheelchair-friendly ensuite, king bed, air conditioning, TV, tea/coffee facilities and outdoor seating. It sleeps 2.
EXPLORE. Enjoy kayaking on the dam at Cobbold Village. New in 2025. Our accessible kayak launch pontoon was designed for ease, safety and independence. This purpose-built pontoon features a wheelchair-friendly gangway, stable floats, transfer seat with slide-out extensions and a low-friction launch cradle. It allows people of all abilities, including wheelchair users, seniors and those with limited mobility, to safely access kayaks and enjoy the water at their own pace. Kayaking is a free activity for guests staying at Cobbold Gorge. Life jackets are provided.
TOUR: Paddle Boarding. Adaptive seat fitted to our touring paddleboards make it possible for guests with limited mobility, balance challenges, or neurological conditions to enjoy guided sit-down paddle tours through Cobbold Gorge. This fully adjustable seat offers comfort, safety and independence—bringing the serenity of the gorge within reach for everyone. Book in advance please, as there is only one seat.
TOUR: Cobbold Gorge. The TrailRider All-Terrain Wheelchair provides guests with limited mobility the opportunity to enjoy the Cobbold Gorge trail and scenic glass bridge, in conjunction with our 3-hour gorge tours. There is a new track being created for this, which will be open in 2026. Suitable for adults and children, the TrailRider enables access to areas not reachable by standard wheelchairs. Your own support crew of minimum 2-4 people “Sherpa’s” is required to use the TrailRider to guide the rider up and down the track.
UNDARA LAVA TUBE TOURS: Transport – Soon to arrive. Our wheelchair accessible tour bus was designed and modified with universal access in mind. It provides guests with mobility challenges the ability to travel comfortably to and from the Undara Lava Tubes to participate in the tours. Features include a rear wheelchair lift, anchor points, low-step electric door and secure grab rails for safe and easy boarding.
