Additional Info ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES

  • Sit Down Paddleboard: Our sit down paddleboard seat was purchased through Motum, the clinical specialists in posture, seating and mobility. The fully adjustable seat is fastened onto one of our paddleboards, using secure anchor points. It provides stability and security for guests on our guided paddleboard gorge tours.
  • TrailRider All-Terrain Wheelchair: The TrailRider was the brainchild of quadriplegic Vancouver Mayor, Sam Sullivan. The TrailRider has handles at the front and back that allow guides to manoeuvre the chair on trails that are not wheelchair-accessible, including up and down stairs and over small bush track obstacles. It has adjustable seating and supports, making it suitable for adults and children with varying abilities. The TrailRider will allow wheelchair guests to participate in the trail component of the Gorge Tour (on a track which will be available from 2026). This 1.5km circular trail goes from the bottom of the gorge to the top, over the sandstone conglomerate, across Cobbold Gorge glass bridge for uninterrupted viewing down through the narrow gorge, and down the other side to the bottom of the gorge where guests then board the purpose-built boat to cruise silently through Cobbold Gorge. You will need own support crew of minimum 2-4 people “Sherpa’s” to use the TrailRider, to help guide the rider up and down the track.
  • Accessible Kayak Pontoon: The pontoon and gangway provide all ability access to the dam at Cobbold Village. The design of the sit and launch kayak facility allows staged entry with a multi-level transfer seat and grab rails while the kayak sits on a firm base cradle limiting the amount of movement. It features: a 1.6m wide wheelchair friendly gangway; kick rails to stop wheelchair at edge; oversized floats with higher than usual ballast load used to create high stability and low movement response rate; transfer station with slide out seat extensions; two slide heights to accommodate kayaks and canoes.
  • Emergency Evacuation Transport System: For peace of mind, Cobbold Gorge also has a Mule II single wheel all-terrain patient transport system and litter stretcher for emergency evacuation situations. This system is universally designed to assist the evacuation of people of all abilities and injuries. The rigid stretcher fits snugly in the frame and the single wheel design makes it ideal for narrow trails, allowing agility, versatility and ease of movement even in the toughest terrain. The ATV wheel offers tracking ability and shock absorption for smooth and comfortable patient transport.
  • Undara Tours Wheelchair Coaster Bus: Our custom modified tour transfer bus features a rear mounted wheelchair lift, quick release rear seats to provide space for one wheelchair when in use, wheelchair anchor points, electric side door with lower step, as well as external and internal grab rails.
