Closed season projects

What do you do when Cobbold Gorge and Village is closed? This question is a common one throughout the year. The answer? What don’t we do? There’s always plenty to be done.

Our ‘closed’ season (November to March) is when the capital works projects commence. These are projects we can’t undertake during our ‘open season’, due to the inconvenience it would cause you, our guests (we want you to have a fabulous time here). And not to mention the fact that once you start to arrive, there’s no spare time!

We’re always busy at Cobbold Gorge Tours and Village – even during our closed season

Previous years’ projects include the refurbishment of the Boundary Huts and Rouseabout Rooms, concreting walkways throughout the village, the installation of the modern amenities block in the camping ground … the list goes on. Other projects undertaken were the creation of our drive-through powered sites, levelling and pebbling of our existing powered sites and ensuite sites, the new round-about garden near the entrance and a beautiful garden next to the Reception building. Recently we’ve added extra undercover BBQ areas at the Self-Contained Caravan Campsites and near the Ensuite Campsites and Rouseabout Rooms – and so the list continues …

On some projects, lots of patience, people-power (and machinery power) are needed. Some of the rocks used to border the gardens and in the retaining walls for the new sites were humungous and much skill was required in their transport and placement.

So, we’re constantly reviewing Cobbold Gorge and how you, our guests enjoy it – and then we develop the projects to make your stay even better next time around – bringing in some creature comforts while retaining a fabulous outback experience coupled with our outback hospitality. That’s how we keep busy when we’re ‘closed’.
